Over the years, Ready Up has had the opportunity and privilege to break a number of world records. I’ve been lucky enough to be part of the team of people organising and managing every one of those world record attempts. When I had the opportunity to aid and abet our very own Laura Rich in PopCap Games’ transatlantic attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Videogames Marathon Playing a Card Game, I literally jumped at the chance.

What ensued across that 30 hour period was an incredible feat by both Laura in Sea Life London Aquarium and her counterpart, Kathleen, in New York City. With both locations streaming live video to each other and the world, it was possible to see their extraordinary effort unfold; between them Laura and Kathleen managed to play over 1,500 hands of Popcap’s hugely popular Facebook game, Solitaire Blitz.

Only another 28 hours and 44 minutes to go!

Whilst the prospect of a Guinness World Record was an excellent motivator to both ladies, thanks to the unique pledge mechanism created for the occasion, more than 1,400 people offered a charitable donation to charity: water for every consecutive hour they played. These donations combined with the 60 hours of play meant that over $93,000 was raised which equates to clean drinking water for over 250 people in developing countries for the next 20 years.

To celebrate this momentous achievement and the ratification of the record by Guinness World Records, PopCap Games have offered up a myriad of goodies that can be won by one lucky Ready Up reader:

All this could be yours!

All you have to do in order to be in with a chance of winning is to answer the following question:

How many hands of Solitaire Blitz did Laura and Kathleen play across 30 hours?

a) 500

b) 1,000

c) Over 1,500
